  1. Download and install the latest Docker for Apple Silicon

  2. Once Docker Desktop is running, open the Dashboard and go into Settings

  3. Find the “Features in development” option, and select the “Use Rosetta for x86/amd64 emulation on Apple Silicon” checkbox

  4. Restart the Docker engine

  5. Run this command docker run -d --name mssql2022 -e "ACCEPT_EULA=Y" -e "MSSQL_SA_PASSWORD=P@ssw0rd" -p 1433:1433 -v $HOME/DOCKER/dockerMSSQL/2022/datafiles:/var/opt/mssql/data -v $HOME/DOCKER/dockerMSSQL/2022/logfiles:/var/opt/mssql/log -v $HOME/DOCKER/dockerMSSQL/2022/secrets:/var/opt/mssql/secrets mcr.microsoft.com/mssql/server:2022-latest

(for linux you need to add ":Z" after each phsyical volume path: /var/opt/mssql/data:Z)

  6. You can ignore the warning that the “requested image’s platform (linux/amd64) does not match the detected host platform”
